Inklings(!) // July 2020

What ho! Some of you may remember that once upon a time I had an author blog (which has now morphed into a web page-ish thing here *shameless plug*).

On that old blog, I at one time used to host the Inkling Explorations, where I'd post a monthly scene prompt and participants would post a scene that matched the criteria from either a book or movie on their own blog. (All very low key, you see.) And a while ago I tossed out the idea of bringing it back/over here and a number of people were interested, so...

*drumroll*

...consider this your official introduction and invitation to the new Inklings! I know we're already a little into July, but I figured we'd just go for it, so you'll see this month's prompt below.

Rules:

On your own blog (at any point during the month as inspiration strikes) post a scene from a book or film that matches the prompt, along with a link back to this post. Then leave the link for your post in the comments here and I'll post everyone's links together at the end of the month. That's it!

It's very open-ended/you don't have to participate every month. I'm also open to lots of prompt suggestions, so please PLEASE leave your ideas in the comments!

Here's the prompt for July and also my contribution. Make sure to grab the button at the top of the post so you can stick it up and help spread the news!

Prompt: scene on the edge of a cliff

My entry: I've only seen this once and not entirely sure re my feelings on it (honestly I maaaay have fallen asleep part way through it *ducks*) but I did love this scene from The Force Awakens. Definite tingles!

Let me know what you think and looking forward to seeing what y'all come up with!! (P.S. And don't forget the button! :))

  1. I don't have much to say on this, but that cliff scene in the 80's Heidi was a huge part of my childhood, I could scrape a brief post on that.

    1. Livia Rachelle,
      That'd be great.

And we're very flexible. The whole idea is not to overthink anything so it can be as simple or complex as you like/have time for. Even a paragraph is just fine. The idea is for a fun, very manageable little brainteaser each month + hopefully seeing what diverse scenes everyone comes up with. :)

  2. Yay! I'm so happy that you're doing this again! Star Wars is a great choice for this prompt! Mine is about The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair, here:

I'd love to hear your thoughts and look forward to further confabulation. Please just be courteous to one and all. Oh, and I love thoughts on old posts, so comment away!

(Also of late -- what with time being finite, and Life Happening + managing multiple blogs and computer issues and all that -- I sometimes have to alternate between creating new content and replying to comments, but rest assured I'm thrilled to hear from each and every one of you and always hope to reply thoughtfully in full ASAP. <3)
