Legends of Western Cinema Week 2024 || Kick-Off, Tag, & Giveaway

Hey howdy everyone, the great day has dawned! Time to kick off our annual Legends of Western Cinema Week, which I'm once again happily co-hosting with fellow bloggers Rachel of Hamlette's Soliloquy and Olivia of Meanwhile, in Rivendell...

LOWCW is always such a highlight of summer here.

Y'all are heartily welcome to join in the party by sharing any western loving posts, film reviews, character studies, etc. on your own blogs. Be sure to come back and leave a link to anything you post in the widget at the bottom of any of our kick-off posts so that everyone else can read your contributions. Just reposting the guidelines here for easy reference:

1 -- any posts must be about the genre

2 -- new for the occasion

3 -- appreciative of the subject / not derogatory

And yes! We have a party tag. You can copy and paste the list below to fill in the answers on your own blog. This year we had a lot of fun coming up with single word prompts. And whatever western you choose for each answer doesn't have to be your absolute favorite of all time, just one that you feel fits that particular category really well. The idea is to have ten westerns total (unless there's one you really want to highlight in multiple places).

Legends of Western Cinema Week Tag 2024

1. A cozy western
2. Gritty western
3. Serious western
4. Comedic
5. Romantic
6. Lively
7. Unpredictable
8. Hopeful
9. Joyful
10. Adventurous

Leave a comment below with any questions, but this should be lots of fun.

And we have our giveaway prizes! (Scroll for entry rules.)

Our first prize is a dvd copy of The Rare Breed (review coming soon)

Second prize is this beautiful blue-green coffee mug. (This color does go in and out of availability, so if there's any issue with that I'll discuss a possible substitution with the winner. Same mug, just in a different color.)

Third prize is this wall sign (I think it's close to 4" x 6")

How to enter:

  • Leave a comment listing your top two favorites in order of preference. (Upon drawing, I'll do my best to match the three winners up with their favorite prize.)
  • To give plenty of time, I'm leaving entries to the giveaway open through Friday and will contact the winners via their provided email on Saturday.
  • There's one prize per winner and (due to shipping rates) I do have to limit it to US entries only.
  • Last but not least, I've added options to the rafflecopter that you can do every day, so if you're interested, be sure to come back again for more entry points!

  1. Oooooh, I am very much looking forward to your review of The Rare Breed! That's a particular favorite of mine. Which means I have a copy already, so if I were to win, I would not want that prize -- but I'd love the mug or sign!

I loved reading your review for Rare Breed! So very fun. Hoping to get mine up later today.

Re the prizes -- yup, that makes sense. Sounds great. 👍

I'd love to hear your thoughts and look forward to further confabulation. Please just be courteous to one and all. Oh, and I love thoughts on old posts, so comment away!

(Also of late -- what with time being finite, and Life Happening + managing multiple blogs and computer issues and all that -- I sometimes have to alternate between creating new content and replying to comments, but rest assured I'm thrilled to hear from each and every one of you and always hope to reply thoughtfully in full ASAP. <3)
