The Random Questions Tag x 2!

Naomi recently tagged me with her Random Questions tag! (Thank you so much, dear! ;))

The rules for the tag are:
~ Paste the button onto your blog post.
~ Leave a new list of questions (or just pass on the question list you answered) and tag a few people of your random choice (and say why you tagged them, if you have time!) (Be original and nonsensical in your question-creativity - make the blogging world a cheerful place :-) And be disastrously random.)
Now for the fun...
~Write down three facts about you - one of them is WRONG. Let your commenters guess in the comments which one is wrong (and tell them in the comments after a while)
~Answer the questions of the person who tagged you - make it all super random and interesting
:-D

So here are my Three Facts. (Again, one of these is WRONG…so guess which one!)

1. I've never driven a car on the beach:

2. A portrait of myself in the a.m:

3. I love Cinderella:

Go ahead and guess in the comments and I'll tell you the right answer in a couple days! ;)

And Naomi’s Questions:

1. Are there flowers in your bedroom? ~ I love the idea of flowers (so Anne-of-Green-Gables-ish!), but I’ve never actually gotten them all the way up to my room yet. I do have an indoor lily I’m trying to keep alive.

2. Who was your first - really first - (fictional) crush? ~ Well, I always respected Ned a lot in the Nancy Drew’s—so strong and courageous and ready to help or rescue Nancy.

3. What is, in your opinion, the prettiest Little House Book cover? – From a purely color/composition standpoint, These Happy Golden Years, BUT I’ve never liked Almanzo’s hair much and I do really like Little Town on the Prairie.

4. On pictures, do you smile with your teeth or without? ~ With!

5. In 'Return to Cranford' Miss Matty gets a turban. What do you think of her in a turban? ~ Since reading other people’s answers I’ve realized I may be in the minority here ;), but I love her turban! I think it compliments her face beautifully and think it’s so brave of her to wear it whether or not it was “in style,” simply because she’d always wanted to.

6. Did you get fooled this year on April the 1st? ~ No. We don’t really try at our house and somehow I didn’t run across anything online either.

7. Do you think it's rude when girls re-do their whole hairstyle in public? ~ No. (My, what a lot of “no’s” I’m having here!) But no, it doesn’t bother me. Playing with it and tossing it around all the time can be immodest/draw attention, but I don’t hardly notice an ordinary re-styling—particularly with buns and ponytails. I wear them a lot, too, and they just get loose and need to be redone! :)

8. What's your least favourite song in 'The Sound of Music?' ~ Something Good. Yes, not a favorite.

9. Do you chew your inside cheeks when you're thinking? ~ No, but I do tend to rest my chin on my hand.

10. Your how-many-ienth post is this? ~ 95!

11. What's your favourite Dickens movie? ~ I still have a lot of Dickens on my to-be-watched list (so far I’ve just seen Little Dorrit and the old classic Christmas Carol and the ’02 Nicholas Nickleby with Charlie Hunnam), but…maybe Nicholas Nickleby? NOTE: It definitely has some skippable scenes/fast forward moments, but altogether it’s a rich, colorful, well thought out, highly Dickens-ish adaptation!

12. What should you be doing right now? Do it. ;-) ~ Finishing a sewing project and Ballet Beautiful. (And I will, shortly…I will! :))

And here are Natalie’s questions as well:

1. Favorite period drama movie? ~ The '04 North and South.

2. What color looks the best on you, clothing-wise? ~ Blue and I’m very happy about it. :)

3. If you had $100 you had to spend selfishly (e.g. an outfit you don't really NEED or a book collection that is available at the library but you just want to own it) what would you get? ~ At the moment, I might actually put it in my savings fund for my next book (cover items, etc.), but saving for a trip to Europe or somewhere exotic would be fun, too. But you were asking about a specific item… Hmmm. Well, I’d love to get a whole bunch of cactus dahlia, and pink and white peony bulbs. I also love this super expensive, old edition of The Prince and Betty:

OR (and now I’m thinking of all sorts of things ;)), I love Indian textiles and dream of having something like this someday:

But then I can never decide…because I like this look, too:

4. Do you dream in color or black and white? ~ In color. (And good question! Do you dream in black and white, Natalie? I hadn’t thought of it before. I also realized this question is rather humorous coming right after I was talking about bedspreads—but it wasn’t intentional, I assure you! :))

5. What's your easiest hairstyle that you use when in a hurry? ~ At home (i.e. when not in public) a ponytail or a twisted-up-with-an-elastic-band bun. Out and about I often twist and pull back my top hair with a couple claw clips and then do a plain braid.

6. What is your middle name? (if you don't mind sharing) ~ Noel.

7. Favorite vintage celebrity? ~ I have a lot of favorites (and I’ve only seen this actor in one film, so he’s a bit of a random selection), but based on what I know so far I’ve been quite impressed by Charlton Heston—by his life and what he stood for.

8. What are you looking forward to most this week? ~ Attending a dear friend’s wedding!

9. What was one of your favorite moments this past week? ~ Smelling dandelions in the sunshine and also getting some fun birthday notes, packages, and emails. ;)

And I’m tagging:

Here are your Random Questions:
~ Do you love the color pink?
~ Your favorite book set in ancient times?
~ What color is your bedroom?
~ Do you like traveling?
~ Your favorite animated film?
~ The shortest you’ve ever cut your hair?
~ Your thoughts on butterflies?
~ Do you enjoy putting together puzzles?
~ Do you get excited when the daily mail arrives?
~ A favorite spring-ish period drama dress?

Also (for simplicity), here are the rules again:
~ Paste the button onto your blog post.
~ Leave a new list of questions (or just pass on the question list you answered) and tag a few people of your random choice (and say why you tagged them, if you have time!) (Be original and nonsensical in your question-creativity - make the blogging world a cheerful place :-) And be disastrously random.)
Now for the fun...
~Write down three facts about you - one of them is WRONG. Let your commenters guess in the comments which one is wrong (and tell them in the comments after a while)
~Answer the questions of the person who tagged you - make it all super random and interesting
:-D

Have fun everyone and thank you again for the tag, Naomi and Natalie!

P.S. And don't forget to guess which of those "Three Facts" is wrong! ;)

  2. I LOVE Nicholas Nickleby!!!!! That was the first Dickens movie I ever watched, and while it totally creeped me out the first time, it was one of the movies responsible for initially sucking me into the world of period drama. :-) I don't think it contains anything inappropriate....unless you'd count the scenes at Dotheboys, which are pretty disturbing. But YES, it's a wonderful movie!

    Ned is so sweet. :-)

    1. Emma,
Isn't NN just gorgeous? And I don't always like watching all the extras, but I actually really enjoyed them on there -- seeing how much they respected the story and all the thought they put in as to how exactly to capture the story in the shorter time frame. Yes, the Dotheboys Hall is pretty intense, but I think I was thinking of the short birth scene (when talking about his uncle's past). I think there's another little spot in there, too, somewhere, but it's been a while since I've seen it and I can't remember what it was.... But anyhow, yes, it's such a lavish, beautiful film! ;D

  4. Ah the Parent Trap! What an awesome meme! However, I'm going with that one for false?

    1. Lois,
Yes, isn't that meme fun? It's actually from That Darn Cat. My sister made it for my birthday recently and it was so good (and I was laughing so much when I opened it) I just had to share it!

  5. I'm looking forward to answering your questions, thanks for tagging me! Your answers were great. :) I really enjoy these fun tagging games. :)
Oh, and my guess is the first one is wrong- that you've never driven a car on the beach. I believe you have. :) My guess, of course.

  6. Thank you for answering my questions, Heidi! And no really, I understand why people may think Matty's turban suits her well. And yes, I also love the fact that she just went for it and bought it, even though no-one in Cranford had ever. :-)

Oh, I really want to watch Nicolas Nickleby! I once watched the older version aaages ago, but this version looks better, I think. So many good movies, so little time! Have you seen Little Dorrit, by the way? What did you think of that one?

Oh, you're going to attend a wedding! I love weddings. :-) I was thinking recently how long it has been since I went to one. They are just so HAPPY. :-D

And I'm guessing your wrong fact is #1?

    1. Naomi,
You're welcome and I was so happy to do it! :) (I so appreciated your sweet words when you tagged me -- thank you, dear! ;))

And I hope you can see NN soon! I'd like to see that old one, too. Was it enjoyable? And yes, I have seen Little Dorrit. I enjoyed it, but it's not a top favorite. I think for some reason I just had trouble identifying with Amy and Clennam (getting into the story, etc), but I did really like Sparkler and Fanny and Doyce and the young man at the jail (I'm so sorry, I can't remember his name off the top of my head :P) -- and I do consider Clennam very sweet. :) I'd really like to see Mutual Friend sometime (minus those parts I've heard about :P), but I'd also like to finish reading it first. Yes....so many good stories, so little time! ;)

And yes, indeed, I'm most excited about the wedding -- all sorts of deep wonderfulness going on!! :)

  8. I'm guessing the first statement is false.

Charlton Heston is one of my favorites too!

  9. Thanks for doing my questions, too, Heidi! :)
I'm going to guess your false fact is...hmm...this is hard....#1?
I'm surprised by how many people say "Something Good" is their least favorite SoM song! I've never loved it, but I've never really disliked it either.
Ooh! That edition of the book The Prince and Betty is so pretty! What is it about?
I dream in color, too, but I've heard it said some people dream in black and white and my grandma says that she does! It seems weird to me that some dream colorless, so I had to ask and see what everyone's answers are! :)
Haha, that is funny the question came right after all your bedspread pictures! :)
What movie have you see Charlton Heston in?
And oh! Have fun at the wedding! I've never attended one, but want to SO dreadfully!
And oh dear.....did I miss your birthday?? :( I didn't know it was this past week-I'm so sorry, Heidi! I would have loved to send you a card in the mail!!

    1. Natalie,
You're welcome -- I really enjoyed your questions! The Prince and Betty is one of Wodehouse's early works and it's great fun. He got a little dialect happy in parts of it (which makes for a little tougher reading), but yes, it's pretty hilarious....and romantic. :)

I've seen Heston in The Big Country (which, btw, does have some intense parts -- so if you'd like to know more feel free to ask me in an email or something). Incidentally, that's actually him on my "Western" pic on the sidebar. :) TBC actually isn't one of my top, top, top favorite films, but his character intrigued me so much I sat down to learn some more about him as a person as well. I'd like to see Ten Commandments before too long, though. Only thing is, since I've seen him in a cowboy hat, I can't quite picture him as Moses. ;) My brother saw him in Commandments first, though, and he was having trouble with the cowboy hat. ;)

And oh dear.... That's all right. I don't mind late cards, though! ;D

    2. Okay, thanks! I'll have to check that story out sometime...:)

I actually have seen Big Country! It was very good, although as you said, quite intense sometimes. I want to watch it again.....it's been awhile since I've seen it.
Oh, yes! Do give The Ten Commandments a try! It's really good, although I agree that he doesn't look much like Moses. :/ I like him MUCH better in his role of Judah in Ben-Hur. Have you seen it? It's really good, and I totally recommend it!!
Oh, good! I sent out a post card for you....I do hope you enjoy it! What IS your actual birth date, though? I'd like to know so I can be prepared next year. :) You can tell me in email if you'd rather not make it public. :)

  10. And for my Three Facts: the wrong one is....#1! ;) Yes, indeed, I HAVE driven a car on the beach. (In fact, it was rather memorable as it was the first time I ever drove a vehicle at all. Driving also isn't allowed on all beaches, so altogether it was a historic moment. :D)

Thank you to all of you who guessed and congratulations!!! ;)

  11. Isn't this tag fun?:)

I'm going to guess that your lie is #1? (But oh my word, you included a picture of That Darn Cat! That movie is awesome!:D )

Wow, that old Wodehouse book looks pretty awesome =D

Your middle name is so pretty!

(Oh, and North and South. Yes, forever:) )

Thanks so much for commenting and yes, isn't it tremendous fun?

You're absolutely right -- #1 is wrong. I have driven on the beach and I do love Cinderella and I'm afraid that is a fairly accurate portrayal of myself on certain occasions and in particular places in the a.m. ;) Isn't That Darn Cat just hilarious? And with so many quotable lines.... Some get used a lot around our house. ;)

And thank you! Also, N&S.... Yes, indeed, MOST DEFINITELY!!! ;D
