Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award!

Lois of You, Me, and a Cup of Tea tagged me a couple weeks ago with the Sisterhood Blogger Award! (Thank you, Lois!)

The Questions:

Do you have any nicknames? ~ Not particularly.

Favorite movie? ~ Shadow on the Mesa. :)

Favorite book? ~ Hmmm. Maybe The Perilous Seat by Caroline Dale Snedeker?

Favorite TV show? ~ There are several (including a Zorro we just started!), but one is the b/w Buccaneers with Robert Shaw.

How many siblings do you have? ~ Four.

How many kids would you like to have? ~ I try not to have hard-and-fast expectations when it comes to my future (obviously including children), so simply put, whatever perfect number God would choose to give. On the “largish” end, though!

What is your favorite activity to do with your family? ~ Good question. I actually like watching films a lot. It’s so easy to get cozy together…and we generally find the same things funny and/or moving.

What is your current school status? ~ Living at home in my twenties, I’m helping out with whatever needs doing while also figuring out this wild adventure called authorship…including often staying up far too late wrestling with words and stories! :)

Dream vacation (if money was no object)? ~ As always, the Colorado mountains and Wyoming head the list (along with regions even further west), but there’s also the Caribbean/tropics…and India and Africa or…well, basically anywhere having to do with my other combined interests of archaeology and endangered animals/amazing world habitats.

Do you like tea? (just cause) ;) ~ I do love both Oolong and iced tea!

Thanks again for the tag, Lois!

  2. Your answers are so sweet! I too am trying not to have a hard and fast answer about kids. I'm hoping on the larger end but I guess I'll wait and see. :)

  3. WHICH ZORRO?!?!?!?!??!?!?!!??! Is it the '50s Zorro starring Guy Williams? Or the '90s Zorro starring Duncan Regehr? I need to know!!!!!!!!!!! (Because I especially love Guy Williams, but I have so many fond memories of Duncan Regehr too.)

    1. Hamlette,
Hee!!! HA. ;) It's the 90's with Duncan Regehr. We had to pick up with the second season (the library lost the first season ;P) and we're really enjoying it! I read on Wikipedia that there have actually been over 40 films/tv series based on Zorro!?!? I already loved the character from the Tyrone Powers film so now I really can't wait to start in on an epic trip digging into as many as I can find/are good -- and I did read about the 50's in passing, so I'll definitely have to look into it! ;D

    2. Yes, there are ooooooooodles of Zorro films and TV shows, all over the world! The Tyrone Power version is awesome, and so is "The Mask of Zorro" starring Antonio Banderas. That one is just so much swashbuckling fun! And mostly family-friendly (there's one moment where the heroine um... loses part of her dress, so she's topless, but her hair covers up everything, so it's just implied that she's topless. Ahhh, the advantages of long hair! It's a pretty easy bit to skip, though, so if you get that version and want me to tell you when to FF, I can.)

The '50s version is super hard to find, alas. If you check YouTube, there's a playlist here that purports to have all of season 1, but each ep is chopped into 3 10-min chunks, it looks like. Still, if you want a taste of it, that would be a free and easy way to do so! That Zorro is clean and cheerful and awesome -- I've been watching eps of it with my kids and they love it, (though there's one with a "ghost" I have to skip for Tootie cuz she doesn't quite understand the concept of "pretend" vs. "real" yet).

    3. Hamlette,
Yay! The fun is just beginning! ;) I think I read up on the Antonio Banderas one awhile ago as I remember something about a heroine in a state up undress. :-/ That would probably make it hit our "non-watchable" list, but I'll look into it more and if we decide to see it sometime, I'll most definitely ask you for particulars.

And I'm going to have to get up early some morning (maybe in the winter so we're not doing chores as early?) when our internet bandwidth can handle YouTube, because I. want. to. see. that. 50's. version!! Is it the Disney series then (with Guy Williams)? I saw that one and put it in our Amazon wishlist, but I didn't read up on it much yet as it is super expensive. :P

    4. Ask me for particulars any old time!

The '50s version is the Guy Williams from Disney. And it was only released on DVD for a limited time, like ten years ago, and now, yeah, it's like $250 for the first season alone. INSANE! A few eps were released on VHS back in the '90s, which my dad bought, and that's how I first encountered it. When we were at my parents' last month, we showed a couple to the kids, and they loooooooooooved it. So I'm really happy part of it at least is on YouTube! It's charming, happy-go-lucky, sweet, awesome. I've been greatly enjoying watching it with my kids :-)

  4. My family enjoyed watching movies together too! :) And (if you don't mind my asking over comments) who is your 4th sibling? I know you have your brother and two sisters, but I don't remember hearing about a fourth. Is he/she younger or older?

  5. Great answers Heidi, I've never seen shadows on the mesa (I am sure making time to watch it this weekend) I can sure relate myself with questions # 6 to #10, I would love to visit Africa and the Caribbean someday. (I am also in my early 20's and living at home, trying to figure out this thing called life and adulthood :O)

Thank you for sharing, I hope you are having a wonderful day.
    Blessings,

    2. Oh yes, I watched it last Friday and loved it, I did observe that there were a few similarities with the "Love comes softly series" (actors and scenery) but the whole story and that old western style in the movie was very entertaining :)

I'd love to hear your thoughts and look forward to further confabulation. Please just be courteous to one and all. Oh, and I love thoughts on old posts, so comment away!

(Also of late -- what with time being finite, and Life Happening + managing multiple blogs and computer issues and all that -- I sometimes have to alternate between creating new content and replying to comments, but rest assured I'm thrilled to hear from each and every one of you and always hope to reply thoughtfully in full ASAP. <3)
