Time and again you show me something in a book or movie that I never thought of before....you have such God-given talent, my dear friend!!

I agree with simply every single one of your points. It's truly amazing how Austen's heroines, though pretty on the outside, always showcase a strong, gentle, kind disposition that shines even brighter than any outward beauty....
"But, while true strong integrity may not seem glamorous at times, ultimately it never goes unnoticed. And when strict adherence to solid principles and gentleness are combined, it’s a red-hot combination. Other characters may or may not like it, but they can't ignore it."

That is beautifully said.

And then, what you said about how they submit to the Biblical authority in their lives, how they learn diligence and humility, how they always have dear friends and mentors in their lives....eeeek!
I simply love this post so much. I think I could read it again and again and be repeatedly fascinated by it all. :)Nataliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00315660089925645214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8412327638222072810.post-50714878288721864422017-02-22T05:52:10.534-08:002017-02-22T05:52:10.534-08:00This was so good. "It’s very worth noting that it’s only her practically perfect heroines (i.e. Anne and Fanny) who justly and appropriately go up against their immediate authority figures. It’s a weighty and fearsome thing, never to be taken lightly, and it seems long years of genuine obedience generally have to be in place first."

That is quite convicting... I've not really done a lot of comparing between Austen's heroines, but you've hightlighted some amazing similarities. The part about the friendships -- so great! And the fact that many of them have to learn humility is such a great observation.

Thanks for contributing this!Hamlette (Rachel)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11961916847426233995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8412327638222072810.post-68894691077677151642017-02-20T14:40:40.401-08:002017-02-20T14:40:40.401-08:00AHHHH!! Jane Austen's heroines have so much depth to them. And I love how none of them are perfect, but whether they have a lot of growing to do or just a little, still they're all beautiful examples of Godly womanhood.

I love all the pictures you included in this post. Those smiling and thoughtful faces at just the right points. Gahhh. I think friendship might just be my favorite aspect -- I remember enjoying that when I read Pride & Prejudice.
Thank you for this post! :)Maryhttps://mistycorners.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8412327638222072810.post-74901102551847939112017-02-19T11:58:10.498-08:002017-02-19T11:58:10.498-08:00Great insights, and lovely pictures! The way Mary treated Fanny made me like her more (and I thought showed she was a nice person underneath and worth saving) and I wished Fanny could have tried harder to like her! They would have been good for each other as friends I think, because even though Mary seems like the stronger character on the surface, I think Fanny would have been a good influence on her rather than the other way around, and Mary would have livened Fanny up a bit. Kind of like if Emma and Jane Fairfax had been proper friends.
