Top Ten Tuesdays: (Ten) Books from My Childhood I'd Love to Revisit

This is the first time I’m participating in Top Ten Tuesdays (over at The Broke and the Bookish) and this week’s selection is the Top Ten Books From My Childhood (or teen years) That I Would Love To Revisit. This was actually harder than I first thought, as I tend to revisit certain chapters (of certain favorites) quite often—and as I also hadn’t realized how many “new” ones I have on my TBR list! But here (in no particular order) are ten I’d currently like to reread beginning to end from when I was about 15 or younger:

(Note: I realized this would make a great read-along, too, so I’m also adding it to my ‘ideas’ list over on Literary Adventures.)

Because I can always read it again. ;)

I just read this last year—but it's definitely from my childhood and always due on the list!

(And a quick general note: For all of you who are regular followers here—particularly by email—I think there was a little mix-up recently when I redid my blog design, where it seems to have skipped sending out my second-to-last bookish post. Here's a direct link for it. Do enjoy and I apologize for the inconvenience!)

    1. Natalie,
So glad to hear they're your favorites! Bronze Bow is one that somehow we've never actually added to our shelves, but it's one that's *stuck* with me ever since I first read it. So yes, definitely due for a reread. And if I do Old Fashioned Girl I'd love to have you along! ;)

  2. "An Old-Fashioned Girl" was one of my favorites (and still is!). In fact when I was 12 I had a dress that I thought met with the description of her dress- gray/blue with white collar and cuffs. I wore it all the time.

    1. Sarah,
I'm so happy it's one of your favorites, too! I think Rose in Bloom is probably my absolute favorite Alcott, but Old Fashioned Girl and Little Women come close. And then yes, when it comes to Tom in Old Fashioned Girl the scales have a way of tipping....

Oh dear, I'm afraid I don't remember her gray/blue dress :P, but how fun that you had one that made you think of it! The chapter where they're going through Fanny's dresses is one of my favorites, though. ;) So fun!

  3. Hello dear Heidi! Oh! I so want to read an Old Fashioned Girl, so if you do a read along sometime, I hope to join in! I first need to add it to my shelf, though!
    Hope you're well!
    Much love and hugs,
    Kelly-Anne

  4. Heidi, what a lovely list! The Horse and His Boy is one of my favorites and I'm glad to see it on your list as well. I've only ever read a handful of these (three to be exact), but I love the idea of doing this...it may or may not have to go into my inbox of "things to blog". ;)

    1. Sarah (R),
Thank you! ;) I consider The Horse and His Boy as my absolute favorite, but I do LOVE The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, too. They're both so wonderful!

And I'd love to see your list (if it works out)! :)

    1. Hamlette,
So glad you loved Bronze Bow, too. And I'm SUPER thrilled we have the same Narnia favorite! ;)

    2. Bree kind of ties with Edmund for my favorite Narnia character :-)

    3. Hamlette,
Wow! Yes, I don't know that I could pick an absolute favorite Narnia character. I identify with Shasta quite a bit, though, and I do love Edmund (a lot).

For an interesting note, our black lab is named Bree. :) (She was kind of named after the town in LOTR, though, too. ;D)

    4. First time I watched FOTR, I totally thought of Bree the horse when they arrived in Bree the town :-)

    5. Hamlette,
Yes, I STILL do that! Whenever we 'arrive' in the town, it takes me a couple minutes to get reoriented -- especially with all the other horse/pony references happening in that section anyway on top of it. ;)

I'd love to hear your thoughts and look forward to further confabulation. Please just be courteous to one and all. Oh, and I love thoughts on old posts, so comment away!

(Also of late -- what with time being finite, and Life Happening + managing multiple blogs and computer issues and all that -- I sometimes have to alternate between creating new content and replying to comments, but rest assured I'm thrilled to hear from each and every one of you and always hope to reply thoughtfully in full ASAP. <3)
