Guest Post on Pride and Prejudice ’05 with Keira Knightley

I was recently honored to do a guest post on the ’05 P&P over at Evie’s fun blog A Period Drama Fangirl. If you haven't checked it out yet (and would like to) here's the link! And do let me know your thoughts on it!

(Note: Evie's blog name and address have changed since this post and, with her gracious permission, I actually re-posted my '05 P&P post here. :) Do enjoy!)

  1. Before I follow the link and read the post... is it favorable or unfavorable to the '05?

    1. Well, it is a critique, but I tried to keep it as level and objective as possible. And I don't like to view the film as an arena for bitter contention as I have friends who really like it. :-) So (if you love it) I would be thrilled to consider you one of them! ;-)

    2. Got it! I'll read it, then. I do love it, and I'm so tired of reading cattily mean posts that bash it that I've gotten to the point where I'm very hesitant to read anything about it written by someone I like, lest it make me stop liking them.

    3. Yes, I was afraid of that... Did I pass?

    4. You did :-) Especially since you made no mention of the infamous pig.

  5. I read the post, and it is really well written. I agree on all your points.
Though I still enjoy the to watch the movie I see it more as a romantic drama that just happens to have the same plot as P&P, than as an actual adaption of the novel.

    1. Thank you for reading it! And I agree. As I've been thinking about it, I've been trying to figure out just what makes a spin-off of a certain story and what makes an adaptation. Interesting question...

      Thanks so much for commenting!

I'd love to hear your thoughts and look forward to further confabulation. Please just be courteous to one and all. Oh, and I love thoughts on old posts, so comment away!

(Also of late -- what with time being finite, and Life Happening + managing multiple blogs and computer issues and all that -- I sometimes have to alternate between creating new content and replying to comments, but rest assured I'm thrilled to hear from each and every one of you and always hope to reply thoughtfully in full ASAP. <3)
